Glacier water green with minerals!
Arrival to Queenstown via Auckland was uneventful except for
baggage not making the international flight. The British lads who aided my car rental recommended the
best burger they’d ever had in Queenstown and so the first stop I made was to
“Ferg Burger.” I either was
famished or indeed it was the best burger I have ever had. Ever. (Not to get too sidetracked but somehow red onions with a
special bbq sauce -chipotle meets brown sugar- with lettuce, mayonnaise,
cheddar cheese, and a six inch juicy patty hits the spot.)

Lake Wakatipu beauty
Having decided to relearn how to drive in the right side of
the car on the left side of the road in a less populated area – I drove to
Glenorchy along Lake Wakatipu on the Glenorchy-Queenstown highway in the rental
car I named Sam-wise. Being
winter, tourists are few and I had the road mostly to myself, which made quick
stops to photograph the area easy.

Please tell me this is not the Bog of the Dead
One word describes the whole journey… majestic. I have a little less appreciation for
Peter Jackson now, because it’s not hard to grab good shots in such gorgeous
landscapes. A huge fan growing up
in Wyoming of the Grand Tetons, I’m a little envious that in New Zealand they
have similar jagged, rocky outcroppings with mirroring lakes and rivers that
magnify the heights of the peaks while doubling the splendor in a mirror image.
